New year, new look

Welcome to Supply Chain Xchange magazine, the official publication of CSCMP.

CSCMP is entering the new year reinvigorated and recommitted to furthering our mission to connect, educate, and develop supply chain professionals. As a leading supply chain professional association, we are dedicated to being at the forefront of supply chain research and education.

The magazine that you currently hold in your hands is evidence of this commitment. Our thought leadership publication is now evolving from CSCMP’s Supply Chain Quarterly into Supply Chain Xchange (SCX). This change reflects our focus on making SCX a leading source of supply chain strategy and innovative information.

We are also committed to continuing to provide high quality education opportunities for supply chain professionals at every point in their career journey. Last year we built new education avenues for those just starting out in supply chain with CSCMP's Center for the Advancement in Talent & Training's Training-to-Jobs (T2J) initiative. We also developed a new home for top leaders with CSCMP's Executive Inner Circle (EIC). The EIC allows our executive members to exchange critical-to-success insights, build the future of supply chain leadership, and embark on a continuous learning journey.

With these programs, we have expanded our portfolio of educational opportunities, meeting our professionals where they're at. In fact, CSCMP has one of the most complete, end-to-end supply chain learning and development paths available anywhere in the world.

These efforts will continue into the new year as we kick off advancements in programs such as LinkedIn Learning, SCPro Assess, SCPro Fundamentals, and the newly updated SCPro Certification Level 2. Additionally, the first cohort of our new CSCMP Executive Supply Chain Leadership Academy will meet in January. The academy is focused on guiding upper-midlevel executives to the C-suite with a transfer of knowledge that can only be received from those who've already weathered the journey.

CSCMP is eager to help you develop yourself and your supply chain teams as we step into 2024 with our continued commitment to connect, educate, and develop the supply chain professionals of today and of tomorrow. After all, society is counting on us as supply chain professionals to deliver.

Retailers plan tech investments to stop theft and loss

Eight in 10 retail associates are concerned about the lack of technology deployed to spot safety threats or criminal activity on the job, according to a report from Zebra Technologies Corp.

That challenge is one of the reasons that fewer shoppers overall are satisfied with their shopping experiences lately, Lincolnshire, Illinois-based Zebra said in its “17th Annual Global Shopper Study.” While 85% of shoppers last year were satisfied with both the in-store and online experiences, only 81% in 2024 are satisfied with the in-store experience and just 79% with online shopping.
